Care Groups & Environments
Children at Complete Care for Kids are grouped into three different rooms characterised by belonging, being and becoming, the foundation of the Early Years Learning Framework. Each room caters for 15 children.
The Babies Room caters for children from 6 months to 2 years of age. In this age group, our Educators focus on providing children with the experience of belonging – knowing where and with whom they belong.
We focus on providing children with a sense of security as they begin their early years in the early childhood setting. Belonging acknowledges children’s interdependence with others and the basis of relationships in defining identities.
In early childhood, and throughout life, relationships are crucial to a sense of belonging and the our Educators aim to provide this in the Babies Room.
The Pre-Kinder Room caters for children aged from 2 years to 3.5 year of age.
In this room, we recognise that childhood is a time to be, to seek and make meaning of the world. It recognises the significance of the here and now in children’s lives by focusing the children’s being.
It is about the present and them knowing themselves, building and maintaining relationships with others, engaging with life’s joys and complexities, and meeting challenges in everyday life.
The Kinder Room caters for children aged from 3.5 to 5 years of age, the key age for kindergarten and preparation for school.
In this age group, children’s identities, knowledge, understandings, capacities, skills and relationships change.
They are shaped by many different events and circumstances. Becoming reflects this process of rapid and significant change that occurs in the early years as young children learn and grow. It emphasises learning to participate fully and actively in society.
3 & 4 Year Old Kindergarten Program
Complete Care for Kids offers a kindergarten program for 3 year old children and a funded kindergarten program for 4 year olds.
A minimum of 15 hours of kindergarten will be offered per week in the school terms (9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday) in the year before your child is due to go school.
Our qualified Early Childhood Kindergarten Teachers plan and implement a kindergarten program and learning environment that is designed to:
- Foster the development of children’s socio-emotional, physical and intellectual needs, which enables significant growth in knowledge and understanding;
- Support learning through structured, play-based learning programs in an activity-centred environment;
- Enhance children’s literacy and numeracy development;
- Help the children on the path of becoming effective readers, writers and communicators;
- Provide children the skills to manage change and develop new relationships;
- Lay the foundation for later learning and set children on a path for school, work and life.
Children’s learning experiences are also enhanced with regular incursions and events organised on a monthly basis, as well as additional curricular activities such as a computer program and take home reader program.
Our 4 year old kindergarten offers opportunity for children to par take in Bush Kinderr once a week by going on an excursion to the local Darebin Parklands.
It is inspired by the European concept of “Nature Kindergartens” where the environment is used as the third teacher. This program not only extends the children’s learning about nature, but also deepens their connection to the community as well helps building their resilience.
