The Journey Early Learning Team have a comprehensive first-hand experience within the early childhood sector. We are motivated and excited for the journey we are on to achieve excellence in early childhood education and care and to inspire lifelong learning.

At Journey Early Learning , our team prides itself on the quality of our curriculum, the character of our team and the connections we share with our families and communities.


Ryan Meldrum 


Ryan is motivated and excited for the journey we are on to achieve excellence in early childhood education and care and to inspire lifelong learning. With a young family of his own, Ryan is aware of the commitment Journey needs to make each day to the families and children who attend our centres.

Bringing together Ryan’s personal values and over 14 years experience in the early childhood sector, he is passionate about the positive impact Journey Early Learning can have on all of our lives.

Ryan was previously Founder and CEO of the Expect Group, a leading national training and recruitment company specialising in the early childhood sector. The group currently provides educators to over 2,000 centres across Australia.

Ryan’s success has been recognised by numerous business awards including the Telstra Business Awards, My Business Magazine Annual Awards and the Anthill Magazine Innovation Awards.

Paula Moffat 

Operations Manager (QLD)

Paula has been working in the early learning sector for many years in a variety of roles including Recruitment, Human Resources and Operations.

Her passion for business improvement and supporting teams to achieve great outcomes had her supporting over 650 centres and centre support staff for one of Australia’s leading not-for-profit early learning providers.

Paula brings a long professional career of team leadership and is excited to see the Journey teams working together to support their children and families and become an integral part of their local community.

As a proud mother of two school age children, Paula is very passionate about creating the best possible environments for young people to play, learn and grow.


Brodie Tebbutt

Operations Manager (VIC)

Brodie endeavours to help Journey deliver the best personalised experience to families and provide children with a high-quality start to life.

Brodie is an ambitious go getter that thrives off embracing and motivating his peers.

With a background in finance and operations, Brodie has been responsible for the day to day trading of small and large businesses across a wide range of industries.

Brodie believes that supporting and empowering Journey educators will lead to a safe environment inspiring lifelong learning for all.

Ashlee Carroll

Experience Manager

Ash is Journey’s Marketing Manager with over 8 years’ experience as a marketing professional.  With a background in contemporary marketing, she thrives on creating strategy, digital campaigns, web development and design.

Utilising her unique combination of marketing skills Ash has worked alongside both small and large organisations. But no matter the size of the organisation, Ash loves seeing her ideas come to life on screen.

Ash feels at home leveraging her personal and professional experience to create digital and local strategies to assist our Journey Centre’s with attracting new families and engaging the local community.


Tara Montgomery

Experience Coordinator

Tara has recently joined the Marketing Team and is as equally excited to share her knowledge with the Journey team, as she is to learn from the team.

After graduating from Griffith University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Business, Tara has worked in the event/marketing industry within the not-for-profit sector. Tara is ambitious and hardworking, with an eye for creative design.

Jo Law


Jo is our accounts wizard where no job is too big or small for her to conquer. With a background in Book Keeping and successfully launching her own business in 1998, Jo has many years’ experience with bookkeeping for small and medium sized businesses.

Jo works part time for Journey and is based in Melbourne. She has been working in finance within the childcare sector for the past 8 years.


Lisa Bassett


Lisa is a finance and corporate governance professional who brings a wealth of experience to Journey Early Learning. With a background in chartered accounting, she has worked with a range of small and large businesses.

Commercially, Lisa has held accounting and head of finance roles both in Australia and the UK, working in the financial services, new media and education sectors. As an undergraduate tutor at The University of Sydney, she also demonstrates a passion for education.

With a young family of her own, Lisa understands the substantial impact teachers, mentors and educators have on children and values those who take a personal interest in an individual child.  She is passionate about Journey’s commitment to inspiring lifelong learning.

Carla Guinee

Enrolments Team

Carla is an Early Childhood Teacher and Manager who has had the privilege of working in a variety of roles in the Early Years Sector for the last 16 years.  Most recently, Carla worked for a not for profit organisation as an Area Manager, where she was responsible for the day to day operation of 14 early learning services including long day care, preschool, out of school care and occasional care.

Carla is passionate about the early years profession and strongly believes that all children should be provided with opportunities to maximise their potential to develop a solid foundation for future learning.  With a strong focus on customer service and a tailored approach to each individual families’ needs, Carla endeavours to create a happy, nurturing and positive experience throughout our families’ journey at our services.


Jess Fogarty

QikKids Expert

Jess is the QikKids expert at Journey, and has over 5 years’ experience with QikKids software. Jess is familiar with the education sector, after being an Outside School Hours Care coordinator for 10 years.

Using her experience and expertise, Jess’s day-to-day activities include ensuring all parents receive the proper support with their accounts.

Carolyn Smart

Quality & Compliance Manager

Carolyn has been involved in the early childhood sector for her whole working life and has experience in all roles and all service types. Carolyn has worked for community and corporate based services, and along the way has comprehensively developed her education, leadership and business skills.

Carolyn is driven by working with educators and service leaders to nurture, develop and support them so they wake up everyday eager to get out there and pursue their passion. This in turn ensures the services they are providing meet the needs of children, families and the community to the highest possible standard.
